There will be an upcoming scheduled maintenance window where LuxSci will be migrating web services for rs126.luxsci.com to a new server rs6126.luxsci.com. This migration will take place on Friday February 18th between the hours of 9PM and 12AM Eastern Time. This migration will be disruptive, as there will be some downtime and the internet IP address of this server will change.
During the migration, the public IP address for the web server will be changed from 64.39.13.246 to 129.146.70.182. LuxSci will be automatically updating the DNS settings for services, so you will not
have to change SSH, or SFTP configurations. (however, if you do use SSH or SFTP, you may need to update the SSH host key after migration in your SSH/SFTP clients).
LuxSci will take care of updating the DNS settings for your the web sites, IF we are currently managing your DNS settings for you.
NOTICE: IF YOU manage the DNS settings for some or all of your hosted web sites, you will need to update the those domains to point to 129.146.70.182 during or after the the completion of the maintenance. Failure to update these addresses will leave these web sites offline until you do update them.
You may also want to update any of these use the "www" subdomain, to ensure that the subdomain is either a CNAME to the root domain, or to make the www subdomain also have the IP address 129.146.70.182.
This is a DISRUPTIVE Maintenance
This server migration will include 15-30 minutes of downtime as LuxSci:
(a) Synchronizes your files and databases between the servers
(b) Updates LuxSci-managed DNS settings to point your services and
managed web sites to the new server.
Again, IF your only organization has access to change the DNS settings for the web sites listed above, you or someone on your team, will need to update the DNS IP Address(s) for these web sites to 129.146.70.182 during or after the maintenance window is complete. From the time that LuxSci suspends services on the old server during the maintenance window, to the time that the new DNS changes are made and propagate across the Internet, these web sites may not be functional. LuxSci recommends that your IT team adjusts their DNS TTLs to a small value (e.g., 5 minutes) well before the maintenance window so that your DNS changes propagate quickly.
What is Happening?
Your services are being migrated to a new server as part of a larger
migration that LuxSci is performing. Once your migration is complete, your
services will be running on a new server that will:
1. Have faster CPU processors.
2. Have very much faster server memory.
3. Have very much faster network interface speeds (for upload/download of data).
4. Have a consistently faster disk subsystem.
5. Include automatic TCP/IP layer 3 and 4 distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection services.
6. Have more outbound bandwidth included with your plan.
7. Reside in the 2nd Generation, security-first Oracle Cloud.
8. Be using The Unbreakable Oracle Linux v8 Kernel.
9. Include extensive 2nd-generation security protections to isolate your server from other machines using the same hypervisor.
After this migration you will gain the above advantages at no additional charge. At LuxSci, security, performance, and reliability are front and center.
Affected users are those that use the shared web server rs126.luxsci.com. The ftp hostname for your server is ftp-126.luxsci.com.
After this migration you will gain the above advantages at no additional charge. At LuxSci, security,
performance, and reliability are front and center.
