Scheduled
During the month of November, 2020, LuxSci will be upgrading all dedicated web servers that are currently running PHP v7.2 to PHP v7.4; shared web servers running PHP v7.2 will be upgraded to PHP v7.3.

After November 30th, 2020, PHP v7.2 will no longer be supported by the PHP development community and will no longer be receiving security updates. As such, using PHP v7.2 after November, 2020 is not an option for security reasons.

If you are on a server that is currently running PHP v7.2 and you are unsure if your web site fully supports PHP v7.3 or 7.4, we recommend that you review your site and verify support during the coming months, so that when the software on your server is updated, your site will keep on chugging along. If you are unsure if your server is running PHP v7.2, please contact LuxSci support or examine your dedicated server administration page. See also the list of backwards-incompatible changes to PHP:

https://www.php.net/manual/en/migration74.incompatible.php

Dedicated server customers can request that we upgrade their servers to PHP v7.4 at any time; they do not have to wait for November. Additionally, dedicated server customers running PHP 7.2 can request that their servers be upgraded to PHP 7.3 instead of PHP 7.4, if they need more time for compatibility with 7.4. However, note that PHP 7.3 will reach its own end of life on December 6th, 2021 (see https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php) ... so everyone left using PHP 7.3 will be upgraded by LuxSci to PHP 7.4 or PHP 7.5 in November of 2021.

There is no option to continue to use PHP 7.2 after November 30th, 2020. To do so would be to leave your web site open to attackers.

Customers whose servers are currently running PHP v7.3 are not affected by this maintenance; however, they can also request an upgrade to PHP v7.4 if that is desirable for them. If you have questions about how this upgrade may affect you, please contact LuxSci support.
